Blu Furutate
Performing Artist
Blu Furutate (she/her) is a Japanese New Yorker and a recent graduate of The Juilliard School. She studied at LaGuardia Arts High School, The Ailey School, French Academie of Ballet, and MOVE|NYC|. While at Juilliard, Blu performed works by William Forsythe, Johannes Wieland, Camille A. Brown, and Shen Wei, amongst others. Professionally, Blu performed in Sharon Eyal’s R.O.S.E at the Park Avenue Armory and has been an artist with Obremski/Works since 2021, in addition to being the inaugural recipient of The Obremski/Works VISION Fellowship. She has worked with artists including Bryan Arias, Gregory Lau, Jie-Hung Connie Shiau, and Bret Easterling. She was named Dance Spirit Magazine’s March 2021 Cover Model Search Winner as well as receiving multiple recognitions from Juilliard. Her choreography premiered in Juilliard’s Choreographers & Composers 2023, Senior Production 2025, and throughout the Arts on Site 2025 season.
Furutate joined Obremski/Works in 2021.
