2018
Obremski/Works, originally named JOIN Ensemble, officially premieres its first work with Founder, Director, and Choreographer Jesse Obremski and Associate Founders Terrence D.M. Diable, Michael Greenberg, and Richard Sayama, No Words, a dance film later presented at Lincoln Center through HBO and the Dance Films Associations.
2020
During the global COVID-19 pandemic, Obremski/Works offers three screenings and virtual conversations with collaborators on three dance films: No Words, Vanish, and Opportunity.
2021
Stemming from the AAPI hate crime increase, almost 300% in 2021, Obremski/Works reimagines the vision and mission of the company toward AAPI support, representation, and diversity. In doing so, the organization creates two equal cornerstones: Company and Fellowships.
2022
Obremski/Works creates and initiates its first award of The VISION Fellowship offering $750 annually in addition to mentorship and other supportive factors.
2023
Obremski/Works creates and initiates its first award of The VOYAGER Fellowship offering $1,000 annually in addition to visa guidance, mentorship, and other supportive factors.
Obremski/Works files and officially becomes a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization offering tax-deductible donations to supporters and offering the company a new propeller toward sustainability.
2024
Obremski/Works increases The VISION Fellowship award to two awardees, an honorable mention, and opens its application pool to the entire United States.
With the support of the Howard Gilman Foundation, New York State Funding, and NYC Cultural Affairs, all administered through the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Obremski/Works presents its first-ever full-length performance featuring the world premiere of GAMAN at Arts on Site NYC.
Obremski/Works, in partnership with Arts on Site, creates and offers its first INVENTS program showcasing the versatility of the company’s artists through choreographic works.
2025
Obremski/Works increases The VISION Fellowship award to two awardees, and two honorable mentions, and awards five total Fellowship Recipients.
Obremski/Works engages our first-ever Commissioned Choreographer Jie-Hung Connie Shiau and presents the world premiere of How to Make a Really Cool Frog.
With the support of the Howard Gilman Foundation, New York State Funding, and NYC Cultural Affairs, all administered through the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Culture Lab LIC, and The Danse Mirage Foundation, Obremski/Works presents its first-ever evening-length site-specifc work with live music, collaborative visual artists, set design, and performance entitled Coloratura US.
Obremski/Works, in partnership with Arts on Site, creates and offers its second INVENTS program showcasing the versatility of the company’s artists through choreographic works.
